ARCHIVES ET TEMOIGNAGES (DOCUMENTS PARLES)
This 2-CD set features more than three hours of testimonies, sound archives and music to tell the life of French greatest champion : boxer Marcel Cerdan. Marcel Cerdan is a myth. As Mermoz, Gabin, Camus or Django, he symbolises France of the 1930s and 1940s. Born in Casablanca he learned the boxing and became French Champion in Paris, Europe Champion in Milan and World Champion in America ! Life of Marcel Cerdan, from Casablanca to New York, is told by those who shared his intimity and glory : Andy Dickson (boxing organizer), Jacques Marchand (journalist), Maurice Rouff (his sparring-partner) and Dominique Zardi (actor). Archives from the National Institute for the Audiovisual restore the emotion of Cerdan’s voice, of Piaf’s one, and voices of his adversaries, managers, friends, sounds of his trainings and fights – like the one against Tony Zale… Includes a 24 page booklet with both French and English notes.
