A born leader by Crescendo & Jazz Music

With this magnificient tribute to Duke Ellington, Claude Bolling has seemingly achieved the impossible; a powerfull, blow-by-blow commentary on the very substance of the Ducal achievements. The warmth is present, as is that relaxed, inmistakeable swing, and also the solo contributions from the Bolling entourage comme so close to the classic creations of the original men. And this homage is markedly present too in the delightful soprano performance of Creole Love Call by vocaliste Maude. Claude Bolling is a born leader, a pianist of superlative keyboard touch, again so reminiscent of Elligton's own output in this area. As regarding the SOUND of this 17-piece ensemble, it is pure, unaldulterated Ellington. [...] Yes, this is surely a memorable issue, never lets up for one instant on the responsibility for recreating, with such exactness, the sounds of the incomparable Duke and his unique company of performers. The influence of this wonderful jazzman is graphically confirmed by the two Bolling works mentioned above. A distinctly superior act of homage all round... Ken RATTENBURY - CRESCENDO & JAZZ MUSIC
