“There is no exaggeration in the title - Fructueux Alexandre a.k.a. “Stellio” was the man for creole music in Paris in the thirties, which was where the biguine craze was centred. (…) The bulk of these songs are lively and upbeat biguines, with the Caribbean elements pronounced, but there is also a marked similarity to vintage New Orleans jazz, superficially at least. (…) If you appreciate the creole music of the French Caribbean, or vintage Caribbean music in general, this is quite simply essential.”
